About the Recipe
This lasagna sauce has been tested, tweaked, and perfected more times than I can count—and it’s truly one of the recipes I’m most proud of. No ifs, ands, or buts about it… it’s perfect. Every step was made with intention, patience, and a whole lot of love. I cannot wait for you all to try it and taste the care that went into every single layer.

Ingredients
Meat Sauce
1 lb ground beef (85/15)
1 lb hot ground sausage
2 (28 oz) cans crushed tomatoes
1 (14 oz) can diced tomatoes
1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
1 yellow onion, diced
5 cloves garlic, minced
1 carrot stick, finely grated
¼ cup red wine
3 tbsp Italian seasoning
3 tbsp chicken seasoning
2 tbsp black pepper
2 tbsp garlic powder
3 tbsp onion powder
2 tbsp sugar
Salt to taste
¼ cup chopped parsley
3 tbsp chopped basil
Ricotta Mixture
15 oz ricotta cheese
1 cup parmesan crumbles
2 tbsp black pepper
2 tbsp garlic powder
¼ cup chopped parsley
¼ cup chopped basil
1 tsp salt
1 egg
Pasta & Cheese
1 box lasagna noodles
8 oz Italian 6-cheese blend
8 oz mozzarella block, shredded
8 oz parmesan block, freshly grated
Preparation
Step 1 – Make the Meat Sauce
Brown the ground beef and sausage. Drain the fat and return meat to the pan.
Add onion, garlic, carrot, and a pinch of salt. Cook over medium-high heat until onions are translucent.
Stir in:
chicken seasoning
pepper
garlic powder
onion powder
Cook 3 minutes to let the seasoning bloom.
Add tomato paste. Stir well and cook 2 minutes.
Add red wine. Stir and let cook 3 minutes to reduce (mixture will resemble sloppy joe texture honey).
Add crushed tomatoes and diced tomatoes. Reduce heat to medium-low and stir to combine.
Add Italian seasoning, sugar, and salt to taste.
Stir in parsley and basil.
Cover and simmer on low for 45–60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step 2 – Ricotta Mixture
In a bowl, combine ricotta, parmesan crumbles, pepper, garlic powder, parsley, basil, and salt. Taste. Once flavorful, mix in the egg. Set aside.
Step 3 – Pasta & Cheese
Boil lasagna noodles 1–2 minutes less than box instructions.
In a bowl, combine shredded Italian cheese, shredded mozzarella, and freshly grated parmesan.
Step 4 – Assemble
In a large baking dish:
Thin layer of sauce
Noodles
Thin layer ricotta mixture
Light layer of shredded cheese
Noodles
Thick layer of sauce
Repeat layers. Finish with sauce on top and remaining cheese.
Step 5 – Bake
Bake at 375°F for 45 minutes to 1 hour. You know your oven better than me girl.
Let rest 20 minutes before serving
