About the Recipe

🥢 Skip the takeout and make this quick and flavorful Beef & Broccoli at home! Tender shaved beef, crisp-tender veggies, and a savory sauce come together in under 30 minutes — perfect for weeknight dinners the whole family will love. Serve it over rice or noodles for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs shaved beef

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

  • 1/4 cup rice wine vinegar

  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce (optional, but friend its good)

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar (or honey)

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch

  • 2 tsp ginger paste (ground ginger works just fine)

  • 1/2 onion, sliced thin

  • 1 tbsp beef bouillon

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2–3 cups broccoli florets

  • 1 cup chopped or shredded carrots (sometimes I have the energy to shred carrots)

  • 1 cup water (for sauce base)

  • Salt, to taste

Preparation

Make the sauce base

In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, oyster sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, and 1 cup water until smooth. Set aside.

Cook the beef

In a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat, add the shaved beef. Stir-fry 2–3 minutes until just browned. Remove from the pan and set aside.

Cook the veggies

In the same pan, add onion, ginger paste, and garlic. Stir until fragrant, then add broccoli, carrots, and beef bouillon. Stir-fry 3–4 minutes until the veggies are bright and just tender.

Combine & thicken

Return the beef to the pan. Pour in the sauce mixture, stirring well. Let it bubble 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats everything. Taste and adjust with salt if needed.

Serve

Enjoy hot over steamed rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds or green onions if desired.
